1936 May 12 - 2021 December 23 - Verna Dixon passed away at Serenity Retirement Residence, Barrie on Thursday, December 23, 2021. She was predeceased by her parents Eric and Edith (Stout) Riley and her husband Rex Dixon. Verna was an accomplished, prolific and generous artist. Her landscapes that capture Canada’s beauty (particularly in the Rockies) and her quilted wall hangings are prized art objects by friends, and her original quilts provide friends numerous fond memories as much as warmth. She was a decades long member of St. Georges’ Anglican Church, Barrie where she was a long time member of the quilting group.
Cremation has taken place and as COVID permits a Spring gathering will be planned. We would like to thank Donna Stiles and staff at Serenity for the loving care and attention over the past six months and Dr. J. Bailey and staff for 35+ years of care. Donations in Verna’s memory to the Salvation Army or charity of your choice would be appreciated. Cremation entrusted to Marshall W. Driver Cremation & Burial Service, 19 Ross St., Barrie, ON.
