DEROY, Dawna Jean (Ewing) February 8th 1962 - April 25th 2023
Dawna passed away peacefully, with family by her side, at RVH in Barrie, Ontario at the age of 61. We are immensely saddened by her departure. Dawna is survived by Lee, her husband of 41 years, her son Chris, grandson Hudson, sisters Terri and Nikki, Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and dear friends. Dawna was an accomplished professional. She started her career in the Canadian Forces as a Radio Technician, she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science and went to a successful career as a Tech Manager in IT and then a Manager for the AGCO overseeing gaming. Her family is thankful to colleagues who have reached out to express how she made a huge difference in the course of their lives. (Many Yoda references) A truly amazing person, she loved everything family- the gatherings, laughter, conversation, debating, cooking & baking for her people and playing cribbage. She loved history, reading, swimming, music and was a Jeopardy and Survivor superfan. A once in a lifetime friend, her relationships with others always made an impact. Dawna has left an immense void in all our hearts. She will be remembered for her beautiful blue eyes, intelligence, wisdom, creativity, generosity, compassion and amazing humor. We wish to recognize the loving care, comfort, support and professionalism of the CCU and ICU staff eat RVH. Cremation and a private family interment have taken place and, in honour of Dawna’s wishes, no formal services will be held. Donations to the heart and Stroke Foundation or RVH Foundation in her name will be greatly appreciated.
