Peter De Lenardo was born on July 5, 1935, to Umberto and Tarcilla De Lenardo in Capreol, Ontario. He grew up in Kirkland Lake alongside his much-treasured departed older siblings: Joe, Amelia, Tony, and Gerry. Later on, he met his beloved wife Theresa, whom he later married. Their devotion lasted for 61 years, during which they raised their six children in Sudbury, in a bustling home filled with love and laughter. Despite the sorrow of losing their beloved son Christopher, their faith and love sustained them. Peter was an Honorary Life Member of the Knights of Columbus since April 1st, 1956; a member of Holy Spirit Council 13390 and a member of the 4th Degree J.J. Murphy Assembly 2020 in Barrie.

He started his work career in an Assay office in the Kirkland Lake mines, later serving as a police officer before transitioning into the field of Insurance Adjusting in Sudbury, where he built a successful career.

Peter embodied strong family values that brought him immense joy whenever they gathered. He was known for his deep faith, unwavering loyalty, and genuine kindness. His sense of humour brought joy to those around him, and his unwavering support was a source of strength. Throughout his life, Peter had a distinctive storytelling style, weaving captivating tales that will be related to future generations. He has gifted us with many beautiful memories that will forever reside in our hearts.

In his 88th year, Peter passed away peacefully on April 2, 2024, with his family by his side. Dedicated husband of the late Theresa for more than six decades.  Loving father of Geralynn (Risto), Michael (Claudette), David (Carol), the late Christopher (Catherine), Thomas (Lisa), and Angela (Brad). Cherished Grampa to his grandchildren Andrew, Cassandra, Alyssa, Christopher, Kristan, Gabriella, Nicholas, Joey, Taylor, Christopher and Matthew and his great-grandchildren Alexandre, Gunnar, Charlie, Zoe, Nicholas, Emma and Scott. Peter treasured his De Lenardo and Duff families and the wonderful times shared with each of them.

Friends are invited to the visitation on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Steckley Gooderham Funeral Home – 30 Worsley Street, Barrie. A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at 10:30 am at the Holy Spirit Parish in Barrie. Instead of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Simcoe in Barrie.
