It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Dalton Alexander Corbett, a man who lived everyday to the fullest. His passion for the outdoors and exercise was contagious to all that knew him. He was funny, witty and always ready to have a good time; he was always there with a kind word or helping hand when needed.  He was a central part of the Nanaimo Mountain Biking community, and in recent years took up playing the ukulele.  He leaves a legacy of positive thinking that impacted everyone around him.

Always looking to learn and try new things, he had several successful careers and sports accomplishments. After growing up in Barrie, Ontario, Dalton worked as a psychiatric nurse in Midland and London Ontario. He then completed his Masters in Social Work and moved to Prince George, BC; finishing his career in Psychiatric Services in Nanaimo, BC. He participated in several triathlons over the years as well as group competitions such as Sea to Surf, BC Seniors Games and the Kusum Climb.

He was doing well in his battle with prostate cancer until he contracted shingles, and his very strong body could not fight both battles. He passed on the afternoon of August 22. He leaves behind 2 daughters, 5 grandchildren, his sister, his partner Pat and 74 years of beautiful memories.

Dalton’s dedication to his health stemmed from his desire to " Add life to his years, not years to his life”.  A celebration of his life will be held on September 17, 2022, in Nanaimo.
