COOK, Eve Joyce

Posted

In Loving Memory of Our Mother, Eve Cook (1926-2020)

It is with considerable heartache, we announce that Eve Joyce Cook, born May 29th, 1926 left us this past Tuesday, September 22nd, 2020 in her 95th year. She goes on to join her dearly missed, late husband, Cecil G. Cook (1926-1998).

Eve will be sorely missed by her two daughters, Danella Agowissa (Jimmy) and Marla Bentley (Kevin), her four grandchildren, Joel, Anika, Clayton and Christoffer and her five great-grandchildren, Abigal, William, Junior (Ben), Riley and Remi. As well as her closest, most beloved of companions, Bows, her Yorkie and the noble Chewy.

Toronto born, but spending most of her life in Barrie, Ontario, Eve was an exceptionally strong, beautiful and tenacious woman with a presence that naturally captivated people. A true matriarch, in every sense of the word, she gained the admiration and respect of family and friends alike. The life of the party and an accomplished hostess she was also apt to be found in an intense game of bridge or loudly enjoying a nerve-racking curling championship. "Hurry, hard!!"

We were fortunate enough to spend Eve's last days holding her hand while chatting and reminiscing, being together when she passed peacefully from natural causes. During this time and for all the time beforehand, we thank the wonderful and caring girls who helped both Eve and us daily, especially Margaret, Debbie, Stephanie, Sue and Colleen. Our mother truly loved and appreciated you all.

It is difficult to put into words how much she taught us as a mother, a woman and a friend and we are forever in her debt for all that she brought to our lives.

"We love you, Mom."

A small family ceremony was held following Eve's wishes. In lieu of flowers, a donation in her name to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
