Zachary Zieman

Our sweet Zachary passed away on July 15, 2021 with his devoted family by his side. Zach battled addiction for the majority of his adult life, and it is this devastating disease that has taken him from us far too soon.

Anyone who had the privilege of knowing Zach, whether it be as a friend, teammate, colleague, or member of his family, knows the warmth of his smile, and of his heart. Zach illuminated compassion, kindness, and an openness to all. He was free of judgement, and full of love.

Despite the many struggles that came with addiction, Zach was given the honour of becoming a wonderful, loving father to two precious boys- Owen John (4 years) and Nathan James Ray (2.5 years). Like everything that Zach did in life, he of course exceeded all expectations as a father. If you were ever so lucky to witness these three amigos together, you'd know their love for one another was undeniable. Owen and Nay absolutely adore their Daddy, and he will be so deeply missed.

There is no denying that Zach learned how to love unconditionally from his parents, Dale and Kathy Zieman (nee Reid). Throughout Zach’s 28 years, they’ve been by his side, cheering him on from the hockey bleachers & soccer fields, lifting him up in times of need, watching him transition into fatherhood, sharing the knowledge of the trades, and on and on- they have always been his biggest fans.

Gone too soon, Zach will be missed by his big sisters, Andrea (Chris), Kristen (Ian), his niece Hannah and his nephew Connor, his Poppa Clarence Zieman (Noreen- predeceased), Daryl Wagar, his Nana Flora Reid (Donald-predeceased), many many aunts & uncles, cousins, & friends. Zach shared a special bond with the mother of his boys, Karly Hart, and will be missed by the entire Hart family.

Even in the saddest of times, Zach continues to give to others in the form of organ donation. We, as a family, are so proud of the man, father, son, brother, and uncle that Zach was, and are honoured to know his light shines on. We will love him unconditionally, always.

A GoFundMe has been created in support of his son’s. We are hopeful to provide the boy’s a glimpse into the life they would have shared with their Daddy.

Alternatively, any donations made to the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Zach’s name are appreciated, as too many lives have been taken by this disease.
