Peacefully passed away at Mill Creek Nursing Home on Sunday, February 20, 2022. Margaret Chalmers at the age of 83, loving wife of the late John Chalmers. Proud mother of Gary (Donna Parks), Carol (Chuck) McNair and Steve (Kristine) Chalmers. Proud grandmother of Graham Chalmers, Erica Chalmers, Stephen McNair (Charlie Vanderpol), Mitchell (Mackenzie) McNair, Dannah (Robert Greavette) Chalmers and Gillian Chalmers. Great grandmother to Axel Thomas McNair. Margaret is also survived by her brother Mick (Pat) Hodge, and her late brother Malcolm (Pam) Hodge. She will be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, friends, and family.
Margaret and John immigrated to Canada and made the village of Minesing their home. Margaret supported John in their family business (Chalmer’s Autobody) and worked many years in management at BMO in Barrie. She was on the founding committee of the Minesing Mini Fest and also enjoyed taking part in many community events. She loved her Pub Lunches, singing with the Minesing Church Choir, knitting, needlepoint, swimming and fine dining with her husband. In retirement, Margaret and John enjoyed many cruises throughout the world. A Celebration of Margaret’s life will be announced at a later date.
Memorial donations to Alzheimer Society Simcoe County, and Diabetes Canada or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Zahir Poonja, Dr. Lee Andersen, and the staff of Mill Creek for their exceptional care and compassion.
