June 24, 1946 - April 2, 2024

With sadness in our hearts, we announce the sudden passing of our husband, father, grandfather, and friend, on Tuesday April 2, 2024 at home, with his beloved Gayle by his side. Predeceased by his father, Kenneth; mother, Alma; and sister Bonnie (Grant), he leaves his wife Gayle, daughters Rhonda (Doug) and Leah, grandchildren Ethan, Tess, Connor, Eli, and Emme, sister Sue (Rick), brother Al (Michele), many nieces, nephews, and dear friends with his memory.

If you met Ron, you were his friend. He had an easy way about him and a smile that drew people to him. Born in Chatham, ON, he called many places home and made close friends across Canada.

A thrill seeker in his early years, Ron could be found track racing and hill climbing on one of his motorcycles, this later evolved into trail riding and mucking on his four-wheeler and logging 1000s of kilometers on his motorcycle with Gayle. When the girls were young, the cottage in North Bay was a haven for bonfires, sailing, windsurfing, waterskiing, and dirt bikes and he shared his love of it all with them. When transferred for work to western Canada, Ron fulfilled a lifelong dream of owning a ranch, raising cattle, and checking fence on his horses. He inspired adventure wherever he went.

An avid hunter, Ron loved a day in the moose, deer or duck blind with family and friends, followed by a good meal and of course, the dessert, he loved the dessert.

His neighbours will be missing his helping hands, Ron could often be found snow blowing out the neighbourhood after a storm and there wasn’t a dog on the block that didn’t get some of his love.

He fiercely loved his family, the water he sailed on, the land he rode on, and a good conversation with the person lucky enough to be in line ahead of him, or an old friend.

We will miss your stories, your laughter, your smile, but most of all, your love. He never missed a chance to say “I love you” - We love you too.

There is no formal service planned, his family will be celebrating his life privately.
