It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Denise Burgess on Wednesday, March 2nd, 2022, due to complications with a recently acquired illness at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto.
A beautiful, wonderful, and loving woman, she is survived by her devoted husband David, mother Mary, sons Anthony (Annie) & Michael (Danielle), sister Carol (Nick), brother-in-law Jack (Marjorie), sister-in-law Margaret (Ron), and many other cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Denise was the very proud Nana of Caileigh and AJ. She is predeceased by her father Alfred and several aunts and uncles.

Denise was born in Toronto on August 21st, 1952. She started work with the Federal Government (Unemployment Insurance) in 1970 and retired as Investigation Control Officer in 2003. Following her retirement, Denise loved looking after her grandchildren and planning family get-togethers and vacation holidays. She was a fabulous cook and baker - spending many hours preparing great meals. It always felt like a celebration when food and family were concerned. Denise always prioritized the comfort and well being of others, and her family and friends always came first.

She developed sarcoma 10 years ago and was faced with numerous medical challenges. Despite this adversity she remained positive, fought hard, and still managed to do the things she loved while caring for others. She looked for the best in people. Those who met her saw a kind and considerate lady. She always had a smile on her face and was enthusiastic about helping people. Denise will be truly missed but is now free of pain and in a better place. We love you Denise and will never forget the brightness you brought to our lives.

Special thanks to the medical team at Mt. Sinai Hospital, Toronto.
