After enjoying a simple life of caring and love for those closest to him, hard work, dependability, resilience, and an ability to adjust to his circumstances, Douglas William Brewster passed away at Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie on Thursday, April 21st, 2022, in his 95th year. A father, loved by the children of his marriage to the late Dagmar, Jeannette, Linda, Doug Jr. and Susan. Over the years he warmly welcomed Mike, yet another Doug, Marilyn, Tracy and Mark into the family fold. His outwardly stoic veneer hid a soft-hearted nature that revelled in the lives and accomplishments of all the grandkids—Alexandra, Claire, Shelby, Sarah, John, Kate, Jenna, Jesse, Chris, Erin and Mark. He counted himself fortunate to greet a great-granddaughter, Scotland, and to spend the last year seeing her almost daily. He happily awaited another great-granddaughter’s imminent birth. He never missed a chance for holiday catch ups with his family. Love you Dad, and thanks for everything. We will surely miss him.
