We are very saddened to announce the passing of Denis Gilbert Bogardis, in his 79th year, after a lengthy illness. Denis was the loving husband of Gloria (nee Fisher) for 58 years; devoted father to Brenda (Dave) and Michael (Tanya), special Poppa/Grandpa to Connor and Alyssa, and father-in-law to Rob McLeod. Denis will be missed by his brother-in-law Allan (Lynn) Fisher and his nieces and nephews Debbie, Sherry, SheryLynn, Kevin, Scott and Shelley.
Denis is predeceased by his parents Gilbert Bogardis and Verna (nee Hilts), step-father Walter Jones and his sister Shirley, and brother Gary.
He was a friend to many. Although we are unable to list everyone, he will be especially missed by his long-time friend Chuck Emes.
Denis will be laid to rest during a family internment at the Barrie Union Cemetery.
As Denis was the light of any party, the family will be hosting a celebration of his life in the coming weeks.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in his memory to the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters or the Jumpstart program where every child has the opportunity to participate in sports.
He is remembered as a lifetime local resident, for his sharp wit, dedication to his family, love of nature and animals, and his delight in telling and hearing good stories. A long-time sports fan, Denis enjoyed watching and attending any sporting event.
