Getulio Sierra Belonio journeyed home to God on August 19, 2023 after a lengthy illness.

Getulio, fondly known as “Gee” (pronounced like the initial “G”) was born to Benjamin Belonio and Felisa Carinan Sierra, in Marikina City, Manila, Philippines on June 10, 1942. He had humble beginnings working in the local shoemaking industry for which Marikina City is world famous. He studied at Far Eastern School for Aeronautics and graduated with honors from the University of the East in Chartered Accounting. He worked for many years as the senior auditor for Atlantic Gulf & Pacific Company (AG&P) as well as National Steel Corporation of the Philippines. It was during this time he met his wife and the love of his life of 49 years, Rosita Roldan Arce.

He arrived in Canada with his wife and daughter in 1981 to join his beloved siblings and parents, Benjamin and Esperanza Belonio. He is survived by his wife Rosita Roldan Arce, and his one and only child, Vanessa Maria Anne (David Fellion Holden) who was his pride and joy and the apple of his eye through which he vicariously lived his dream of being a lawyer. He is also survived by his siblings, Samuel Belonio, Elizabeth Belonio Razon, and Sharon Belonio Miranda, and many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Benjamin Belonio, Esperanza Orquiola Belonio, and Felisa Carinan Sierra, siblings Jeremiah, Daniel Sr., Abraham, and sister Lydia and his brother, Jaime Carinan Sto. Domingo.

Gee worked at the Toronto Cricket, Skating and Curling Club for approximately twenty years where he was cherished by members and co-workers alike for his trademark moustache, charm, and gentle and easy demeanor. He had a love of books and reading, and all things vocabulary. He was always well-dressed and known for his good looks, impeccable grooming and signature smile that could light up a room. He was very much loved by all and will be sorely missed.

Visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Friday, September 1st, 2023 from 5-7 pm with Words of Remembrance occurring at 7 pm inside the Chapel.
