Alice Louise Belanger (née Bray), 86, of Barrie, Ontario, passed away suddenly on August 11, 2021, while out to dinner with friends. Alice is survived by her children Brian Belanger (Jo-Anne van Draanen) and Mary Ellen Belanger (Gayle Thurlow) and her grandchildren Hannah, Erin, Jenna, Leah and Katrina. She is predeceased by her husband Wayne and her parents.
Alice met Wayne when they were both in Teacher’s College many, many, years ago. They have been inseparable ever since; through a lifetime of raising a family, maintaining careers, retiring, travelling, and caring for each other.
She had a great love of family and spent generous amounts of time nurturing and raising youth whether they be her children, grand children, nieces and nephews, or students. Her passion was to share her love and understanding with the extremely lucky four-year-olds that made up her classes.
Her free time was spent enjoying cross country skiing, golfing, walking, cycling, playing bridge, and travelling with Wayne and their many friends. She loved to play the quarterback with the preparations for all the social functions that went on in our house, both professional and familial. Until her last day, Alice was incredibly active, walking the lakeshore daily, experimenting with new recipes, and cheering on her Blue Jays and Raptors. She is sorely missed already, as family and friends grieve her untimely death.
Alice was also able to perfect the Margarita in her short 86 years on this planet so, in lieu of flowers and donations please buy yourself a Margarita from her. She would like that. Condolences may be expressed online at adamsfuneralhome.ca.
