The family of Bob Beaumont is saddened to announce his passing on 7 March at the age of 86 years with his family by his side.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Doris; son: Michael (Dana); daughter Cheryl (Daryl); grandchildren: Eva, Milo, Joel, and Zack; sister, Joan (the late Rick) Reeves; as well as numerous relatives and friends.  He will also be dearly missed by his friends at the First Baptist Church. He was predeceased by brother Doug (Betty); and his parents: Horace and Hazel.

Bob was born in Kirkland Lake, Ontario where he enjoyed growing up in the rocky Canadian shield canoeing and fishing through his summers.  He moved south to Barrie during high school and started working at Robinson’s Hardware, where he ended up working in the electronics repair shop.  This gave him an opportunity to work at The Bell Telephone Company.  Bob’s love of electronics and technology allowed him to move up the ranks quickly which led to a great adventure working in Labrador on the missile defense shield.   Working close with the air force base inspired his sense of adventure and saw him get his pilot’s licence which he was very proud of.  But the real adventure was just about to begin when he met the love of his life Doris.  They soon started a family with the birth of his son Michael, and Cheryl followed a few years later.  At that time, he decided to go into business for himself and joined his father Horace at Monarch TV & Appliances.  He ran this as a successful business until 1993 when he elected to take an early retirement.  He took full advantage of his retirement and continued to live life to its fullest.  He always enjoyed travel, going coast to coast with his family in Canada and traveled to Europe several times; his love of sailing continued through a great part of his life. Travel and sailing only increased in retirement, with regular trips to Florida and many cruises.  He also spent much of his time traveling to Vancouver and Australia to see his children and grandchildren and built ever stronger bonds with his family as he grew older.  Bob had many great accomplishments, but it was his family that he loved the most and was most proud of and in his own words, he wouldn’t have changed a thing.

There will be a visitation on Saturday, March 11th from 2pm – 3pm, followed by a funeral service at First Baptist Church (550 Grove Street, Barrie). An interment will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made in Bob Beaumont’s name to The Canadian Lung Association.

The family wishes to send a special thank-you to the staff at the RVH Seniors Care.  Your caring and support for Bob will always be remembered. Donations can be made and massages of condolence can be forwarded to the family through adamsfuneralhome.ca.
