It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Anne Elizabeth Bateman (Lafferty) on Sunday December 25th, 2016 at the Royal Victoria Hospital Barrie. Anne is predeceased by her loving husband of more than 60 years William James Bateman, her daughter Frances Anne Powell, her son Norval William Bateman and her Great Grandson Joshua Bateman. Anne was a true matriarch to a large and loving family spanning 5 generations and will be sadly missed by her children William (Bill) Bateman, Sheila Burbidge, Bruce Bateman, Alice Bateman, Michael Bateman, Jean Crozier and Anne Burton, as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Anne was always ready with a welcoming hug and a listening ear for her family, friends and the community at large.
Visitation is Wednesday December 28th, 9:00 to 10:45 am at Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley Street, followed by the service at 11:00 am St. John Vianney Church, 13 Baldwin Lane Barrie. Luncheon and interment to follow. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
