Passed away peacefully at RVH Regional Health Care facility. Karol leaves behind his loving wife of 66 years, Katarzyna (Kathy) Baskiewicz, daughter Martusha (Jim) Doyle, andson Roy K. Baskiewicz, all of Barrie. Proud ‘Pa’ to five grandchildren: Jamie (Emily), Katie (Shane), Robyn,Roy (Celeste), and Lyndsy (Joe). Great Pa to great grandchildren Lyla, Oakley, Evelyn and Luna. Special uncle to Mary and Bob Carter and family.

After the war years, times were very tough. Karol married his bride as a young man of eighteen. In 1959, Karol, Kathy and Martusha (and the soon to be born Roy!) emigrated from Poland to Canada, trying to build a better life for themselves and their children. Karolworked hard, in construction jobs, and was known to be very handy at fixing almost anything. He moved on to be an employee of DND Base Borden for 31 years, where his multi talents shined through as a carpenter. He made many friends there.

He was a founding member of Polish Alliance of Canada Gr. 43 Barrie-Angus. He spoke proudly of being one of the last living (oldest) original members of the club. As a past President, and with many years in the function of Organizer, he took those duties fully to heart. He also was a Member of A.N.A.F. Beaver Club for many years. He also enjoyed Friday lunches at Sheba Shrine club, and was given a plaque fora donation to the 100 million dollar club .

He did enjoy moose hunting and fishing with his gang. Start a game of euchre, and he was the first to play. Tell him there was a wrestling match to watch, and he was first in line!

Karol and Kathy were blessed to spend some 30 winters in Florida; twenty-five of those were at South Pasadena Mobile Home Park. There, they forged more lasting friendships. Karol enjoyed the social life:  he rode his bike, played cards, and became quite the shuffleboard player (You should see his trophies!)

Thank you to the ICU team at RVH, especially Drs. Barnett, Douglas, Igric and Allmen. Thank you to nurse Lauren and team for your care and compassion, helping us through this emotional time.

Karol will be greatly missed by those who knew him.

We do not lose the ones we love

they only go before

where there is ever lasting life

where sorrow is no more

and there the soul will always live

and peace is everywhere

we do not lose the ones we love

God keeps them in his care
