Volunteer with St. John Ambulance and the Therapy Dogs Program, past president of Simcoe Co., Innisfil and Essa Historical Societies, past scout leader with the First Churchill scouts, and a very active member of Burton Avenue United Church. Passed away peacefully with his son by his side in Barrie, on Thursday April 21, 2016 in his 83rd year. Beloved husband of the late Margaret Rose Baker. Cherished father of Jim. Proud grandpa of Brenna and Alex. Survived by brother Gord Baker. Sadly missed and always remembered by nieces, nephews, his therapy Dog partner Laurie, furry friend Spookie and other dear family members and great friends. Guests will be received at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 201 Minet’s Point Road, Barrie on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. A celebration of Brian’s life will take place at Burton Ave. United Church, 37 Burton Ave., Barrie, on Wednesday May 4, 2016 starting at 10:30am. Following a reception, burial will take place at Thornton Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John Ambulance and are greatly appreciated. The family would like to take this opportunity to especially thank the nurses and volunteers at RVH and Roberta Place for the wonderful care Brian received during his stays.
