January 01, 1923 - March 07, 2024

2nd Timothy chapter 4 :7:  “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith!”

Harry Alle passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by family on March 7th, 2024 at the age 101.  An example of life legacy for all to follow; devout Christian, devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Harry is survived by his daughter Aino-May Binnendyk (Jerry), sons Tom (Susan), David (Susan), and Bruce (Sonia), as well as 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren

Harry is preceded in death by his first wife Mary of 54 years (and mother of 4 children), second wife Ethel of 17 years, brothers Henry, Robert, and twin sister Aino.

Harry was a very humble man -- spoke less but always listened intently -- and when he spoke his words were full of love, encouragement, positivity and great wisdom.  Harry was always first to help when help was needed.

Born in Tallinn Estonia and raised in a farmhouse near the Baltic Sea, Harry was a fisherman by trade.  He survived a climatic escape during Russian occupation, organized and participated in covert trips to Russian occupied Estonia to retrieve family and friends, and was a shareholder of SS Walnut first refugee immigration ship (1948) to Canada.  Harry started his new life in Canada settling in Southern Ontario, first working in Toronto at a small steel manufacturing company then finding work as a station operator with CP Rail until his retirement.  Harry met his first wife Mary McConnell in the Muskoka’s, where they purchased land and built a cottage for the family to enjoy to this day.  He was always active building home and cottage additions, loved gardening, and landscaping at the family home and cottage.

Some time after Mary’s passing, Harry was blessed to find a second love in his life.  He and Ethel Snow wed in 2006 and so began their world travels, which included visiting Ethel’s family in Nova Scotia and the first time back to his homeland Estonia.

Harry’s life will be celebrated on Friday, June 7th, 2024 at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie, with visitation to begin at 10 AM until the time of service in the Chapel at 11 AM.  Guests are invited to remain for a reception luncheon in the lounge until the time that family proceeds to Barrie Union Cemetery for the interment.
