Passed away at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie on Thursday, September 22, 2022; at the age of 80.  Doreen McLachlan, beloved wife of the late Leonard Victor Adams of Barrie.  Loving mother to her daughters Michelle Tanguay (Marc) of Midhurst and Cathy Seeler of Orillia. Doreen will be missed by her grandchildren Devin, Corrie, and Alex, and by her only great-grandchild, Ayrie.  Dear sister of Beverley (Mrs. Frank Morano) of Orillia, and Donald McLachlan (Susan) of Orillia; and the late: Douglas McLachlan (Dolores), Aldean Childerhose (Ted), Marjorie Calderone (Anthony).

Doreen was born in Orillia on April 27, 1942, the fourth of six siblings. She lived in Orillia until she married her beloved Len on October 21, 1961.  They began their adventure of married life living in Etobicoke, and then moving to Guelph, and Simcoe before settling in Barrie where they lived most of their married life.  Doreen worked as a secretary for the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic School Board for 26 years at St. Monica’s School from 1973 to 1999.  Her daughters were students there and then many years later, her son-in-law Marc taught there for a short time as well as her daughter Michelle.  For many years, she was a devoted caregiver to her husband Len until he passed in 1998.  When she retired in 1999, she enjoyed travelling to many locations in Canada and the US with her dear friends Barb Perryman and Irene Short.  She enjoyed time spent with her family and was actively involved with her grandchildren who were her pride and joy. 

Visitation will be at Adams Funeral Home, on Tuesday, September 27 from 2-4 pm and from 6-8 pm. The service will be held on Wednesday September 28 at 11 am, with time for visitation starting at 10 am. Doreen will be interred at St. Mary’s Cemetery following the service. A reception will follow at Adams Funeral Home, 445 St.Vincent Street, Barrie, ON.
