Woodbine Entertainment unveils 2022 Queen's Plate race date for Aug. 21, 2022

TORONTO — The 2022 Canadian Triple Crown will begin in August.

The $1-million Queen's Plate will be held Aug. 21, 2022 at Woodbine Racetrack. Woodbine Entertainment made the announcement Wednesday.

The Plate is the first jewel of the Canadian Triple Crown and remains North America’s oldest continuously run stakes race.

"We're excited about the prospects of another tremendous running of the Queen’s Plate in August 2022," Woodbine CEO Jim Lawson said in a statement. "Welcoming fans to our facility for this year's Queen’s Plate brought an electric feeling back to Woodbine and we have our eyes set on producing one of Toronto’s top sporting and social events for the summer of 2022."

Woodbine Entertainment also said it intends to begin the '22 racing season April 16 and run it through Dec. 11, with exact race dates still being reviewed.
