Utica Comets score twice on power play to sink Toronto Marlies 5-2

UTICA, N.Y. — Nolan Foote's power-play goal in the third period led the Utica Comets past the Toronto Marlies in American Hockey League action Saturday.

Foote's goal at 7:29 of the third period gave the undefeated Comets (6-0-0) a 3-2 lead before Graeme Clarke and Joe Gambardella, with his second of the game, scored late empty-net goals. Akira Schmid stopped 24 shots.

Alex Steeves scored both goals for the Marlies (5-4-0), which got 24 saves from Michael Hutchinson.

Utica went 2 for 5 on the power play, including Chase De Leo's first-period goal.
