QMJHL playoffs: Remparts beat Olympiques 5-2 in series opener

QUEBEC — James Malatesta scored twice and Pier-Olivier Roy chipped in with two assists as the Quebec Remparts defeated the Gatineau Olympiques 5-2 in the opening game of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League semifinal series on Friday night.

Theo Rochette, Evan Nause and James Robidas also scored for the Remparts, who outshot the Olympiques 35-26.

Zachary Dean and Colin Ratt scored for the Olympiques.

Game 2 is Sunday at Centre Videotron.

POKECHECKS: The second QMJHL semifinal series between the Sherbrooke Phoenix and Halifax Mooseheads starts Saturday night at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax, N.S.
