Jays starter Roark shelled as New York Yankees dump Toronto 8-3 in pre-season play

DUNEDIN, Fla. — Blue Jays starter Tanner Roark allowed seven earned runs over 2 1/3 innings as Toronto dropped an 8-3 decision to the New York Yankees in pre-season baseball action Sunday afternoon.

Roark gave up one walk and eight hits while striking out five.

Marcus Semien, Teoscar Hernandez and Kevin Smith hit solo homers for the Blue Jays, who fell to 11-8-1.

Starter Gerrit Cole had eight strikeouts over his five-inning appearance for New York (13-6). He allowed one earned run, four hits and a walk.
