'Outstanding results' by athletes during wrestling championships

400 athletes from six provinces took part

KEMPENFELT BAY AMATEUR WRESTLING CLUB

On May 10, 11, and 12, 18 members of the Kempenfelt Bay Amateur Wrestling Club competed at the Canada-East Wrestling Championships, 2019.

The K-Bay Athletic Club (Barrie) members travelled to the Rotary Place Athletic Complex in Orillia to participate in this tournament.

This event, hosted by the Mariposa Wrestling Club, attracted approximately 400 elite age-group athletes from the provinces of Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Quebec, and Ontario.

The following results were excellent:
    •    1st place (gold): Francesca LoGreco (bantam girls - 45.7 kg), Kyla Vestby (bantam girls - 66.7 kg), Gavin MacGregor (kids boys - 55.6 kg)
    •    2nd place (silver): Austin Brabant (kids boys - 51.4 kg), Austin Graham (kids boys - 42.2 kg), Aidan Dawson (kids boys - 37.7 kg), Caius Harbridge (bantam boys - 64.1 kg), Spencer Brabant (novice boys - 43.9 kg), Ivan Sorokine (novice boys - 33.4 kg), Cara Dunbar (novice girls - 24.6kg)
    •    3rd place (bronze): Lily Duval (bantam girls - 59.3 kg), Graeme Robertson (bantam boys - 74.1 kg)

Also participating were Lauren MacGregor, Grayson Alexander, Madeline Ban, Robbie Dunbar, Sawyer Matheson and Braeden Dunbar.

These outstanding results, coupled with all of the outstanding results achieved by the youth members of the K-Bay Wrestling Club this season, has made this athletic year quite exciting.

The K-Bay wrestlers would like to thank their coaches, parents and supporters for their care, encouragement and skill development, during this very successful 2018/2019 wrestling season. They are looking forward to summer training sessions, next year’s competitive season.
