A two-run eighth lifted the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 7-5 win over Barrie Thursday night at Vintage Throne Stadium.

Tied 5-5 with two out in the decisive frame, Jose Vinicio scored on an error to give Toronto its first lead since the fourth inning. Damon Topolie added an insurance run scoring on a wild pitch in the same at bat.

Vinicio finished 2-for-5, while Greg Carrington had two hits, two RBI and a run. Johnathan Solazzo and Luca Boscarino each drove in a run.

Dylan Jacube allowed an unearned run over two innings of relief for the win. He struck out three while giving up a hit and a walk.

Dustin Richardson struck out two and worked around two hits in the ninth to earn the save. Leafs starter Diego Dominguez went five innings, giving up four runs (three earned) on five hits. He walked two and struck out three.

Noel McGarry-Doyle led the Baycats with three hits, an RBI and a run. Jake Wilson also drove in a run and scored, Ryan Rijo went 2-for-5 with an RBI and James Anderson also produced a run.

Jayson Aquino pitched the first four innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits with a walk and three strikeouts.

Royals-Jackfish postponed

WELLAND – Thursday’s scheduled game in Welland between the Jackfish and Guelph Royals was postponed due to rain. No make-up date has been announced.

Panthers-Red Sox postponed

KITCHENER – Thursday’s scheduled game in Kitchener between the Panthers and Brantford Red Sox was postponed due to rain. No make-up date has been announced.
