Grizzlies put bow on cross-country season at provincial championship

The Georgian Grizzlies men’s and women’s cross-country team took part in the 2019 OCAA Cross Country Championships hosted by St. Clair College at Malden Park in Windsor this past Saturday.

The runners were lucky to have excellent conditions for the race, avoiding some wet conditions that moved in later in the day Saturday.

Georgian’s men’s team ran to a ninth-place overall finish in a tight competitive field of the province's best collegiate runners.

Michael MacInnes (Barrie) was the Grizzlies top runner finishing in 25th place individually as he completed the 8-km course in 28:13.

He was followed by teammates Jeffrey Scott (Newmarket) in 34th, Tyler Thomson (Bracebridge) in 38th, Jordan Woolner (Barrie) in 69th, Dylan Kiesler (London) in 72nd and Nelvin Sen (India) in 83rd.

In the women’s race, Georgian’s lone runner was Desiree Allen (Orillia) who finished in 45th place after completing the 6km race in a time of 27:34.
