Colts trade Haight to Saginaw for bevy of draft picks

Barrie receives second-round picks in 2024, 2025 and 2026, as well as third-round selections in 2025 and 2026 for Minnesota Wild prospect

The Barrie Colts have traded forward Hunter Haight to the Saginaw Spirit in exchange for five draft picks. 

The Ontario Hockey League club announced the deal Thursday morning. 

The Colts receive second-round picks in 2024, 2025 and 2026, as well as third-round selections in 2025 and 2026.

Haight, 18, is in his second OHL season. The centre has three goals and six assists in 20 games as well as four penalty minutes and a minus-14 rating.

Last season, the Strathroy, Ont., native had 22 goals and 19 helpers in 63 games. He also had one goal and four assists in six playoff games. 

Haight was drafted by the Minnesota Wild in the second round (47th overall) of the 2022 NHL Draft. He was originally drafted ninth overall by the Colts in the 2020 OHL Priority Selection. 

The Colts sit in sixth place in the OHL's Eastern Conference with a 10-7-2-1 record. They host the Owen Sound Attack (14-7-1-1) tonight at Sadlon Arena.
