The Barrie Colts have acquired forward Ethan Quick in a trade with the Ottawa 67's.

As the clock ticked down toward today's Ontario Hockey League trade deadline at noon, the Barrie Colts squeezed in another deal.

The Colts acquired Ethan Quick from the Ottawa 67's in exchange for Barrie's seventh-round pick in 2024.

A 17-year-old right-winger who hails from Trenton, Ont., Quick has one goal and two assists in 22 games this season, his first year in the OHL.

Quick, who is listed at six feet tall and 180 pounds, came up through the Quinte Red Devils 'AAA' program before playing last season with the Wellington Dukes in the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) where he scored nine goals and added 17 assists in 52 games.

“Ethan was a player our scouting staff liked back in his U16 year," Barrie Colts head coach and general manager Marty Williamson said in a release. "He’s a strong kid already and we’re looking forward to helping him continue to develop here in Barrie.”

Quick was chosen by Ottawa in the fourth round of the 2021 OHL Priority Selection Draft.

The Quick deal comes just a few hours after the Colts landed defenceman Braden Hache in a trade with the Kingston Frontenacs.
