Castaldo slugs his way to first triple crown in Baycats history

Jordan Castaldo has become the first player in Barrie Baycats history to win the triple crown for the highest batting average, most home runs and most runs batted in. 

The 30-year-old Toronto native drove in 47 runs, smashed 15 long balls and had a sparkling average of .453.

The Baycats were founded in 2001.

Castaldo joined the local Intercounty Baseball League team in 2013 following a few seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs. 

He has a .368 career average in the IBL. 

The Baycats open their first-round playoff series against the Brantford Red Sox on Thursday night at Coates Stadium in Midhurst beginning at 7:30 p.m. Game 2 goes Saturday night at 7 p.m., also at the Barrie Community Sports Complex.
