Baycats step up to the plate with 10-3 win against Welland

WELLAND  Carson Burns had three hits and drove in six to lead the Barrie Baycats to a 10-3 win in Welland Friday night.

Burns singled twice and tripled while also scoring once. David LeBlanc went 2-for-5 with three runs and an RBI, and Mike Cecchetto and Royce Ando each drove in a run.

Andrew Grieder (4-0) gave up a run on four hits over five innings for the win. He walked three and struck out four.

Welland's Jake Polancic (1-2) took the loss despite allowing three runs on four hits over seven innings, walking two and striking out five.

At the plate, Griffin Keller hit a solo home run, while Mike Wagner and Eric Marriott each drove in a run. Nolan Pettipiece added two hits.

Fifth-place Barrie moved to 13-16, and third-place Welland fell to 14-14 on the season.
