YBOWL will once again host the 5th Annual YBOWL Cup Championships on March 31 at 9 a.m. for youth bowlers from across southern Ontario and the Quebec regions. The event, which will be held at Bowlerama Barrie, will support athletes through scholarship awards for post secondary education. During the event, teams will bowl 18 baker-style games (bowler one bowls frame one, bowler two bowls frame two, etc.) with the top eight advancing to the semi-finals.

YBOWL offers a great opportunity for youth bowlers by providing all winnings in the form of scholarship awards to assist the athletes in their postsecondary education financial needs. Over $7,500 will be awarded in scholarship awards at the YBOWL Cup Championships weekend.

Participants can look forward to rubbing shoulders with professional bowlers and Team Canada athletes. Local professional bowler, Zach Wilkins and Florida women’s professional bowler, Ashly Galante will be on the lanes coaching and helping out with the event. Opening ceremonies will begin at 9:15 a.m. followed by our National Anthem performed by youth athletes Kylie Gallant and MacKenzie Blagojevic.

The Honorable Alex Nuttall, MP; MPP Ann Hoggarth; and Mayor Jeff Lehman plan to give an address at the ceremony, and share their excitement about supporting the efforts of YBOWL in keeping our youth educated!

Local athletes, Rhylee Russell will be competing on Team Cummins Canvas, Zander Parsons - Team Northwinds Corporation, Stephen McMillan - Team Woodbine Nissan, Nick Ciccolini - Team QB Sports, Maxwell Lee - Team Crossfit, Jackson Lee - Team Northern Projects Inc., with Kaitlyn Chamberlain on Team YBOWL 2 coached by pro bowler Ashly Galante.

YBOWL in partnership with Georgian College introduced the first Canadian Intercollegiate Bowling Program in the fall of 2016. Student-athletes can remain on Canadian soil while being able to compete at the intercollegiate level representing their country. This is exciting news!

Watch Georgian Kodiaks Zek Ardizzon (Team Woodbine Nissan), Josh Bautista (Team Infinite Financial), Madisyn Lyon (Team YBOWL 2), Dylan Scott (Team QB), Jakob Bowden and Nicole Politakis (Team Cummins Canvas), Karley Foster (Team Northwinds Corporation), Riley Pellerito, Kenton Schatz (Team Buffa), and Team Crossfit will be coached by Head Coach John Fallis.
