What's the best way to connect 16 diverse towns and townships spanning far and wide across hundreds of kilometres across the County of Simcoe?
That's the question Simcoe County and its constituent municipalities have been pondering as transportation options are developed to address future needs. A county-wide transit plan fits well with the ransportation strategy focus on integration of land use and transportation, access and mobility and multi-modal integration.
Public input is critical in the process and the County is hosting two Open House Public Information Centres on November 9 and November 17, to gather feedback from residents and stakeholders about public transit in Simcoe County.
“We are investigating how we can play a more significant role in enhancing regional transit connections,” said Warden Gerry Marshall. “We are 16 municipalities within one large border. Linking our municipalities together through more efficient transit systems brings us closer together and will provide greater access to opportunities from one end of Simcoe County to the other.”
Feedback will be considered for inclusion in the Simcoe County Transit Feasibility and Implementation Study and build on strategies outlined in the County of Simcoe 2014 Transportation Master Plan update.
