Vehicle removed from ditch. Driver faces charges

ORILLIA – Over the weekend, the Orillia Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received 125 calls for service.

Police responded to calls received from Severn Township, Ramara Township, and the City of Orillia.

The time frame is from Friday night at 6:00 p.m. until Monday morning at 6 a.m.

There were various calls for service consisting of noise complaints, alarms, 911 hang-ups, domestic/family disputes, Liquor Licence Act complaints, mischief complaints, motor vehicle collisions and impaired drivers.

On January 16, 2016 at approximately 2:12 a.m., the Orillia OPP stopped a vehicle on West Street North in the City of Orillia for having no tail lights. 

The driver was arrested after he failed a roadside breath test.

John PAQUIN, 32 years old of Orillia, has been charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Over 80 mgs Blood/Alcohol.

He was released on a Promise to Appear in Orillia court on January 26, 2016.

On January 17, 2016 at approximately 6:50 p.m., the Orillia OPP was dispatched to a vehicle in the ditch on Skyline Drive in the City of Orillia. 

Officers attended the location just as the vehicle drove away after being removed from the ditch by a tow truck. 

The vehicle was stopped and the male driver was arrested

Richard PELTIER, 30 years old of Peterborough, has been charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Over 80 mgs Blood/Alcohol. 

He was released on a Promise to Appear in Orillia court on February 9, 2016.
