Police are blaming an insecure load on a pickup truck for a Wednesday afternoon crash involving two tractor trailers on Highway 400 near Innisfil Beach Road.

OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt says a mini van swerved to avoid a chair that had fallen off the back of a pickup truck in the southbound lanes at about 3 p.m., causing a chain reaction involving a tractor trailer and a large gravel truck, Schmidt said, adding that the incident "easily could have caused a multi-fatal collision."

One vehicle burst into flames, and the southbound lanes of Hwy. 400 were closed for several hours.

There were some minor injuries reported.
