On Thursday, November 1, 2018, Investigators from the Barrie Police Street Crime Unit, Tactical Support Unit along with the K9 Unit, executed a search warrant in the City of Barrie.

Following a lengthy investigation in relation to a mid-October home invasion, in which all parties involved were known to each other, a search warrant was executed at a residence on Cook Street. Police seized two handguns and a quantity of ammunition.

A 23-year-old Barrie man has been charged with: numerous firearms-related offences, one count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, and Robbery, two counts of Break and Enter, and three counts of Assault with a Weapon. The 23-year-old appeared in an Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie on Friday, November 2, 2018, and was remanded into custody.
