Tiffin Centre hosting camping workshops for new Canadians this weekend

Experience offered through hands-on workshops, families will learn the skills to experience and enjoy the great Canadian outdoors

Partnering with the Rotary Club of Barrie, the Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority will be welcoming new Canadian families at the Tiffin Centre for Conservation.

Through hands-on workshops, families will learn the skills to experience and enjoy the great Canadian outdoors. The workshops are separated into different stations throughout Tiffin: 

  • Tent setup and hiking gear (demonstrated by Sojourn Outdoors) 
  • Canoeing (demonstrated by Andy Owens, Ontario Recreational Canoeing and Kayaking Association Canoeing Instructor) 
  • Cooking (demonstrated by NVCA volunteer Frank Yamich, retired principal and outdoor enthusiast)

This event is exclusive to new Canadian families registered with the Simcoe County District School Board.

Who: Canadian families with children starting school with the Simcoe County District School Board in September 2021
When: Saturday, Aug. 14, 2021 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
