A cannabis trade show originally slated for this weekend in Orillia has been postponed until the spring.

The Cannabis Trade Fest was set to take place Saturday at the Best Western Plus Mariposa Inn and Conference Centre, but the announcement by the federal government that edible cannabis products will be available in December has led to a change of plans, said organizer Carmine De Santo.

“We got a lot of new dealers not ready yet for the edible side of the business,” he said. “The bill just got passed a few weeks ago, so (on) the new date, we will be ready with edibles as well to educate the attendees with.”

Cannabis products will not be available for sale or sample at the event “unless we get a licensed partner to join us,” De Santo said.

The show will now take place April 4 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the same location. Admission to the 19-plus event is $20.
