WEATHER ALERT
ENVIRONMENT CANADA
*************************
Snow squall warning in effect for:

  • Barrie - Collingwood - Hillsdale

Snow squalls are expected. Under the snow squall bands, visibilities will be significantly reduced due to the heavy snow combined with blowing snow, and snow will quickly accumulate.

Hazards:
Snow, heavy at times, with additional local accumulations of 5 cm by this evening.
Northwesterly winds gusting up to 60 km/h, causing significantly reduced visibility at times in blowing snow.

Timing:
Through this afternoon.

Discussion:
Snow squalls will continue to gradually weaken today.

Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Road closures are possible.
