Environment Canada has issued a winter storm watch for Barrie and surrounding areas.

The watch says snow and blowing snow are in the forecast Monday night into Tuesday.

A storm from Texas will spread snow and blowing snow into the regions Monday evening and Monday night.

The snow may become mixed with ice pellets or freezing rain Tuesday.

Precipitation will taper off Tuesday evening but total snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 cm are expected.

Travel conditions will deteriorate Monday evening and Monday night as visibilities drop to near zero and roads become snow covered.

Travel conditions will remain poor Tuesday.

Environment Canada says avoid travel if possible.
