Smile Cookie campaign raises $15K for Innisfil, Essa libraries

'A big shout out to everyone who purchased a Smile cookie for their contributions to improving our community,' says Innisfil library CEO

Thanks to local Tim Hortons restaurant owners and many generous local residents, the Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign this year raised thousands of dollars for local libraries.

David Blackmore, owner of the Tim Hortons located in Cookstown and Thornton, along with Rachana and Amit Seth, owners of the Tim Hortons located in the Tanger Outlets in Cookstown, joined forces and raised $15,619 through the recent sale of Smile Cookies.

The money will be distributed equally to support the Innisfil ideaLAB and Library and Essa Public Library.

“We are extremely grateful to our community for the support of the 2023 Smile Cookie campaign," Essa Public Library CEO Laura Wark said in a news release. “We cannot say thank you enough to the Tim Hortons teams.”

“Thank you to the owners and staff of our local Tim Hortons locations for once again generously supporting our library, and a big shout out to everyone who purchased a Smile cookie for their contributions to improving our community,” said Erin Scuccimarri, CEO of the Innisfil ideaLAB and Library.

All of the proceeds will go directly to programs and services at the Innisfil ideaLAB and Library and the Essa Public Library's Thornton branch.

"We're so proud and humbled that Tims guests have once again shown incredible support for our Smile Cookie campaign and important charities and community groups where they live, by helping us raise a record-breaking $19.7 million," said Axel Schwan, president of Tim Hortons.

"To achieve such an amazing result means baking and hand-decorating millions upon millions of Smile Cookies over the course of just a week. My heartfelt thanks goes out to everyone who made this happen, including all of our passionate restaurant owners, team members and volunteers who helped us dot eyes and create smiles.”

Nationally, Tim Hortons restaurant owners support over 625 local charities, hospitals, and community programs through the Smile Cookie campaign.
