The big cheques were pulled out Thursday morning and with some large dollar figures attached, too.

The proceeds from the Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign were officially presented to representatives from Big Brothers Big Sisters Barrie District and Hospice Simcoe at the Tim Hortons location at 109 Mapleview Dr. W., in south-end Barrie today.

Also on hand were Tim Hortons restaurant owners from Barrie and Alcona, where the local money was raised. It was also noted that Barrie and Alcona continue to be among the highest performing areas for the campaign.

Just shy of $126,000 was raised locally.

The full dollar from each Smile Cookie sale went to the two local groups to the tune of $62,790.50 apiece.

The campaign ran across Canada from Sept. 17-23, with local organizations in various communities benefitting from the sales.
