The Rotary Club of Barrie-Huronia says the first edition of the new Rotary Daily Cash Lottery and the new Rotary Community Calendar have been a success.

On April 27, the club will be celebrating by holding its annual celebration luncheon virtually via Zoom.

The 2021 Rotary Daily Cash Lottery resulted in a "great year of sales," says the club, with almost 4,200 lottery tickets sold and generating gross revenues of approximately $84,000.

Net of the daily prize pool and estimated expenses  close to $52,000  will be reinvested into our community. In addition, local sponsors of the 2021 Rotary Community Calendar have provided an additional $16,000 in support of Rotary causes.

The club says these two fundraising campaigns continue in the tradition of the previous Cash Calendar fundraiser and are a key source of funding for important organizations and charities in our communities.

Approximately $17,000 will be paid out to beneficiaries of Rotaract and their partner Rotary Clubs  Alliston, Innisfil, Kempenfelt, Orillia and Parry Sound  and around $8,000 will be paid to community groups, sports teams and charitable organizations as commissions and beneficiary payments for tickets sold.

The remaining  share of the net proceeds, approximately $27,000, will go to beneficiaries of the Rotary Club of Barrie-Huronia: the Royal Victoria Hospital Hearts and Minds Campaign, Big Brother Big Sisters of Barrie, The Learning Centre for Children with Dyslexia, Redwood Park Communities and YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka.
