Parts of Tiffin and Ross streets in Barrie will be closed today (April 16) for underground pipe repairs.

The city says its water operations department and their sub-contractors require a full road closure on Tiffin Street, between Essa Road and Innisfil Street, tentatively until 4 p.m. The closure is needed to repair a water service leak.

Detour: Tiffin Street – Essa Road – Innisfil Street – Tiffin Street.

The city also needs a full road closure on Ross Street, located downtown between Mary Street and Maple Avenue, today until about 1 p.m. This is also to repair a water service issue.

Detour routes in effect:
Ross Street – Toronto Street – Dunlop Street West – Maple Avenue – Ross Street
Ross Street – Sophia Street West – Maple Avenue – Ross Street.

Access for residents within both closures will be maintained and emergency services will have access to respond within the closure, but not to travel through it. The roadways are also closed to buses.

Meanwhile, on Burton Avenue in the Allandale area, the city will also have emergency lane closures/restrictions/shifts between Milburn and Robinson streets today until about 3 p.m. to repair a sanitary sewer lateral.

Just north of the downtown, Yorkton Contracting and its sub-contractors also require an emergency full road closure on North Park Road, between Parkdale Crescent and Oak Street, today until approximately 7 p.m. This closure is needed to repair existing underground sanitary infrastructure. The roadway will be open to local traffic, waste collection vehicles and emergency services.

Detour route in effect:
North Park Road – Parkdale Crescent – Davidson Street – Grove Street East – Oak Street – North Park Road.
