The City of Barrie is advising of an upcoming full road closure for a section of Mapleview Drive East.
Starting March 2, Mapleview Drive East from Yonge Street to Royal Jubilee Drive will be fully closed. This closure will last until approximately May 15.
The upcoming road closure is a continuation of work that happened in the fall of 2019, which includes the construction and installation of a large watermain, sanitary sewer and road crossings. The work will ensure the City has infrastructure in place to service developments, including the new south Barrie high school. To avoid opening and closing Mapleview Dr. for weeks at a time and to ensure safety with single lane closures in close proximity to the active work, the City is implementing one, longer-period full road closure.
Barrie Transit stops 515, 522 and 596 will be out of service for the duration of the road closure. Route 3 will detour via Royal Jubilee/Sun King/Majesty/Prince William.
