A section of Dunlop Street East at the far end of downtown will be closed for more than two weeks starting on Monday, June 20 for Poyntz Street reconstruction and infrastructure work.

North Rock Group and its sub-contractors working for the City of Barrie requires a full road closure on Dunlop Street East between Mulcaster and Sampson streets, tentatively from 7 a.m. on Monday, June 20 until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5.

Only local traffic will be allowed on Poyntz Street between Dunlop Street East and Collier Street.

The Poyntz Street project includes replacing a transmission watermain that services the east end of Barrie. The city says the existing infrastructure along the roadway is also nearing the end of its useful life and requires replacement.

Access for residents within the closure area to be maintained and emergency services will have access to respond within the closure, but not to travel through it.
