According to area school boards, there were 15 active COVID cases in schools in Simcoe County as of Sept. 13.

Simcoe County District School Board reported five cases as of yesterday and has not updated the list today.

There is one case at Admiral Collingwood Elementary School, one at Alliston Union Public School, one at East Oro Public School, one at Collingwood Collegiate Institute, and one at Nottawasaga Pines Secondary School.

There is a classroom closed at Alliston Union Public School.

The Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board has reported eight active cases associated with schools in Barrie, Innisfil, and Bradford.

In Barrie, there are three cases and three classrooms closed at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic School on Prince William Way, and two cases and two classrooms closed at St. Nicholas Catholic School on Lougheed Road.

There are two cases and two classrooms closed at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School in Innisfil.

There is one case and one classroom closed at Ste. Marie of the Incarnation Catholic School in Bradford.

The French-language public school board, Conseil scolaire Viamonde, reported one student case in the region at Roméo-Dallaire high school in south-end Barrie.

The French-language Catholic board, Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir, reported one staff case at Marguerite-Bourgeois elementary school, which is located at CFB Borden.

School boards are required to post regular, public updates on COVID cases linked to their schools. A case in a school does not automatically indicate that person caught COVID-19 at the school.

Anyone who was in close contact with the infected person will be notified by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit.

Not all school boards specify whether a case is a student or staff member.
