NEWS RELEASE
ROTARY CLUB OF BARRIE HURONIA
*************************
The Rotary Club of Barrie Huronia loves Christmas. Every year we enjoy shopping for many families in our community. This year we shopped for 70 families, 224 people who needed a little help this Christmas. The families come from Big Brothers/Big Sisters Of Barrie and District, Women and Children's Shelter of Barrie, and a few local churches.

It takes weeks of preparation, starting with shopping for toys and clothes for each and every child on the list. All presents are wrapped in one afternoon following a Rotary luncheon – grocery shopping is done at Rob’s FreshCo on Bayfield Street – turkey, stuffing, and all the fixings for a delicious family dinner, as well as a few other goodies for the holidays. And then it’s all put together and delivered to the families.

A special thank you to Randy Lyons and Heather Hill for organizing the event, Joe Rockbrune of Rockbrune Movers for transporting the gifts and food, and to each member of The Rotary Club of Barrie Huronia who helped make Christmas just a little more enjoyable for 224 people in Barrie and surrounding area.

Christmas Hamper is our favourite, but we support many other local projects with funds raised through events such as Hearts and Minds Gala, Lobsterfest, Barrie Fall Fishing Festival, Ladies Night Out and Cash Calendar. By purchasing tickets to these events, you make it possible for us to keep on giving to our local community.
