Robbery suspect in custody thanks to public assistance

On Wednesday, August 3, just after 10 p.m. a male entered the Mac’s Convenience store located at 151 Bayfield Street, in the City of Barrie.

While inside the male began preparing several coffees. Upon the last customer leaving the store the male quickly walked behind the front counter and threatened the store clerk in gesturing manner and demanded money.  

The store clerk immediately complied with the demand and the male quickly fled the store with the money.

Upon police arrival a witness reported seeing the suspect fleeing the area, and within in short period the suspect was located at Wellington and Toronto Street.

The 25-year-old Barrie male was arrested and transported to the Barrie Police station and will appear in bail court on Thursday. He has been charged with robbery and fail to comply with probation.

With the assistance of the public this suspect was caught quickly. This demonstrates the true meaning of community safety is a shared the responsibility!
