Roads around downtown cenotaph closed Friday for Remembrance Day

Closures around Dunlop East, Poyntz, Clapperton, Owen, and Collier streets will be in effect from 6 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Motorists are being asked to avoid key areas of downtown Barrie on Friday morning for the city's annual Remembrance Day ceremony. 

Royal Canadian Legion Branch 147 and the City of Barrie will have in place a full road closure of Dunlop Street East between Poyntz and Clapperton streets, as well as Owen between Dunlop East and Collier Street for the parade and ceremony.

The closure will take place on Friday, Nov. 11 from 6 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The Mulcaster Street intersection will be temporarily closed by Barrie police to assist with the movement of the parade toward Meridian Place/Memorial Square.

Detours route in effect are as follows:

Eastbound: Dunlop Street – Clapperton Street – Collier Street – Blake Street

Westbound: Blake Street – Collier Street – Bayfield Street – Dunlop Street
