Simcoe County is going to be home to four new elementary schools.

Barrie MPP Ann Hoggarth, advised there will also be renovations made to a school in Orillia.

"Ontario is successful when children are successful and this announcement means local students will have access to modern , high quality facilities," said Hoggarth.

Chairman of the Simcoe County District School Board, Peter Beacock, says the areas identified are " growing by leaps and bounds".

The boards of education pitch locations to the Ministry of Education based on need.

Simcoe County Warden Gerry Marshall says this announcement "gives us 45 million reasons to smile because investment in youth is critical".

Marshall says "these projects will go a long way to addressing multiple needs in our community" adding "the population now is 480,000 and by 2041 it is predicted to be 800 thousand".
